What to Expect in July

How to use this section.

The East Fork is a small river that usually runs pretty thin by July. In the absence of a new rain storm, the East Fork will be unfishable most of the month. However, a freshet of a half-inch of rain can cool the water and get the fish moving. If that happens, head over here and give it a crack. Standard steelhead patterns such as Green Butt Skunks, Freight Trains, and Muddlers work when presented with traditional tactics.

For more on July tactics and flies, see the Rivers in General forecast
