What to Expect in March

How to use this section.

The river closes March 16. Large, native steelhead usually enter the river in March, so hang on tight.

After a storm, the East Fork clears in two or three days. When you see that happen, grab your rod and head for the river. Look for river flows between 600-1300 cfs.

The Daybreak Park and Lewisville Park areas are good access points. You can drift between the two parks, but the canyon concentrates river flows, so drifting is a good option when the river has been dropping for a while. Good boating flows are 900-1300 cfs.
