Both the upper and lower Madison can fish well in winter. Pink Scud and pink sowbug imitations can be effective, as well as the usual winter choices of midges and streamers. Try a size 18-20 pupa/larva patterns in red, black, and olive, as well as the standard Brassie, Egg Fly, etc. Sparsely-tied streamers can work well, too.
