With cooling desert temperatures, Dry Falls is usually a viable destination by mid-September.

Midges will provide action this month. Be prepared to fish a midge pupa pattern three ways: a slow retrieve, deep midge, or static midge.

Streamer patterns such as Woolly Buggers, Seal Buggers, and leeches should also do well, especially with the lake's brown trout. Your biggest browns will come during the hours of darkness when they prowl the shallows for tasty morsels.

Waterboatmen may also be present along the edges where the water is less than five feet deep. Hopper and terrestrial patterns can also be useful at this time of year, as are damselfly nymphs (small, tan, immature imitations).

If the weather is warm, you'll need to wait until the end of the month before fishing here.
