What to Expect in September

What usually happens. Best way to use this section.

Sea-run cutthroat will soon be available in the lower reaches. Dolly varden will soon be available in the upper river and the Sauk. Coho should enter after a heavy rain; wait for the river to drop, then go after them.

If it's an odd-numbered year, pink salmon can be expected in the lower sections after the first big rains. Use a pink Clouser Minnow or pink Starlight Leech. Present the fly with traditional tactics such as you'd use with steelhead, then retrieve with jerks so the fly rises, sinks, rises, sinks, etc.
