What to Expect in February

What usually happens. Best way to use this section.

The bulk of the native steelhead arrive in late February, March, and April, there are some hatchery fish in the river now as well as an occasional native.

You might find some wild steelhead in this big river's higher, more fly-friendly reaches above Marblemount.

The Sauk, a major tributary, can have decent dolly varden fishing. The dollies hold in the pools and medium-depth runs and will take streamers, such as Zonkers, Woolly Buggers, and Egg Sucking Leeches. Fish ranging between 18 inches and five pounds are sometimes caught.
