Uses

While trout feed primarily on pupa during a midge hatch, they are often receptive to a well-presented adult midge imitation. This pattern resembles a cluster of mating midges, which trout are more likely to respond to than to a single midge adult.

How to Fish

This pattern using CDC, so it should NOT be dressed with floatant. Instead, dry the fly with a dessicant material. Present using standard dry fly or chuck-and-sit presentations.

Tying Instructions

1. Debarb hook, put hook in vise, and start thread.

2. Create dubbing loop at rear of fly. Place one half of two long dun and one black large CDC feathers in loop. Clip fibers off feather stems, then twist up dubbing loop.

3. Wrap dubbing loop forward around hook shank. Tie off.

4. Trim excess fibers, but keep the fly shaggy.

5. Whipfinish and trim thread.
