Uses

Imitates leafhoppers. Leafhoppers share grasshopper habitat as well as brushy or willow-lined banks. They hop around just like a grasshopper, and routinely fall into the water near the shoreline. The only difference is that leafhoppers aren't as affected by the wind as grasshoppers, as they rarely uses their wings.

How to Fish

Dress the fly with floatant and use standard dry fly presentations near overhanging vegetation.

Tying Instructions

1. Debarb hook, place in vise, start thread

 
2. Dub body

 
3. Tie in Raffia wing, trim to shape.

 
4. Tie in three strands of deer hair perpendicular to shank with figure-8 wraps. This should give you three legs on each side. Trim legs short.

 
5. Dub a small head or build a small head with thread.

 
6. Whipfinish and trim.
