Paraloop Ant

Created by Jeff Morgan

Hook: Dai Riki 320, size 12-16

Thread: Black 6/0

Abdomen: Black dubbing

Wing: Black or black and grizzly hackle, paraloop style

Thorax: Black dubbing

Uses

Ants are often blown out of pine trees and onto lakes, where they become trout food. Any time you venture to mountain lakes surrounded by ponderosa pines, you should have some ant patterns in your fly box.

This pattern is based on the "paraloop" style of tying wings. For more, see the article Paraloops

Variations

Sizes 12 and 14 are most useful. Brown or rust-brown are also effective colors. See also the Ant pattern.

How to Fish

Dress the fly with floatant and use standard dry fly presentations.
