Uses
A traditional northwest lake pattern, the Carey Special still finds employment, especially in the lakes of British Columbia. It could represent a dragonfly nymph. I recently talked with Dave Hughes and Rick Hafele about stillwater caddis, and they think that trout often take the Carey Special for one of the large lake-dwelling that are common in British Columbia and other parts of the Northwest. Or maybe it just looks to a trout like something that might be edible.
Variations
Brown is another good body color.
