Dubbed Cased Caddis
UsesCaddis larvae that live in cases made from stone are not often found in the drift. However, caddis that build cases from plant material may drift and be eaten by trout. Further, storms on a lake may pump air into their cases and make them float, and trout will take them from the surface. For more information, see the article Caddis Larvae--Part I VariationsThis pattern comes in two variations: one has a lead-wire underbody and is drifted near the bottom. The other is a floater and is used on the surface of lakes. How to FishUse tight line or trout indicator nymphing tactics when fishing with the sinking version of this fly.
