Uses

Resembles the nymphs of the larger species of green drakes.

Variations

The original Pupatator has a black body, black ostrich herl thorax, and light partidge hackle.. A CDC Pupatator uses natural dun CDC for the hackle. Other variations on the Pupatator theme are the Peacock Pupatator, Improved Pupatator, and Fuzzball.

How to Fish

Dead drift near the bottom with an indicator or tight line presentation.

Tying Instructions

1. De-barb hook. Slide on bead and place hook in vise.

 
2. Tie in olive partridge fibers for tail

 
3. Tie gold tinsel.

 
4. Dub tapered body of olive/brown sparkle dubbing. Dub only about 1/2 the length of shank

 
5. Rib with gold tinsel. Tie off and trim.

 
6. Tie in peacock herl. Wrap thorax. Tie off and trim.

 
7. Tie in olive partridge hackle. Make two wraps. Tie off and trim.

 
8. Dub olive-brown sparkly dubbing for thorax.

 
9. Whip finish and cement head.
