Uses

This fly is intended for murky waters, where fish find their quarry more by vibration and pressure waves than by sight. It is designed to push a lot of water. For more about this fly, see the article Vibration Flies.

How to Fish

Use a count-down-and-retrieve presentation, perhaps with short, quick strips to create the maximum vibration. Alternatively, let the fly hang in the current and give it short jerks with the rod tip.

Tying Instructions

1. De-barb hook, place in vise, start thread.

 
2. Tie in tail.

 
3. Tie in Estaz and ribbing.

 
4. Wrap Estaz forward and tie off.

 
5. Wrap ribbing over body and tie off.

 
6. Tie in rabbit strip.

 
7. Tie in flash.

 
8. Tie in feathers for pectoral fins.

 
9. Spin wool head.

 
10. Whipfinish and trim head to size.

 
11. Glue on eyes with fabric glue.
