HOOK: Dai Riki 135, size 8-12

THREAD: Black

BODY: Peacock Ice-dub

RIBBING: Small silver oval tinsel

HACKLE: Light partridge

THORAX: Black ostrich

HEAD: Silver brass bead

Variations

The original Pupatator has a black body, black ostrich herl thorax, and light partidge hackle.. A CDC Pupatator uses natural dun CDC for the hackle. Other variations on the Pupatator theme are the Improved Pupatator, Fuzzball, and Hizzo.

How to Fish

Dead drift near the bottom with an indicator or tight line presentation.

Tying Instructions

1. De-barb hook. Slide on bead and place hook in vise.


 
2. Tie in oval tinsel


 
3. Dub tapered body of peacock Ice-dub. Leave 1/8" between end of body and bead.


 
4. Rib with oval tinsel. Tie off tinsel and trim


 
5. Tie in partridge hackle. Make two wraps. Tie off and trim


 
6. Tie in 2 strands of black ostrich. Make 4-5 wraps so it looks full, but not bulky. Tie off and trim.


 
7. Whip finish and cement head.
