  • Gold Lake.............?

Just called the Middle Fork Ranger Station outside of Oakridge for an update. There is still some blockage from snow. Guessing here if the snow is gone soon there are always downed trees to remove. I want some brookies

Thanks for the update. I was just wondering about Gold.

You can hike down from the Waldo lake road. Easy 1/4 mile. Mind over matter.

Taking Friday off. I'm so there. I'll camp Friday night if the road is open, or hike in from Waldo if not, and make it a long-drive-day-trip. Keep us posted, Rob. I LOVE Gold!

They are not opening the gate this weekend. What do they get paid to do? Sit and watch the snow melt.

Hiked in yesterday morning with my friend, Steve and it was a phenomenal day of fishing!

A patch of snow kept the fish fresh. Perfect size for the smoker.

No mosquitoes. Trail is clear. Steve landed the only rainbow. We fished until about 3, and took home around 40 brook trout to distribute among friends and neighbors. Never left the south shoreline as the fish were all in the shallows. Saw one other fisher come in the afternoon who proceeded to fish the west shoreline. We heard a few "WHOOPS" from over there as well. I don't know if the fly pattern mattered much. The fish were ravenous.

Outstanding Bill. Can't wait to get in there. PhilR, Anj, and myself fished Crane. Off the charts day.

I wonder if the folks who stashed several prams and gear in the woods near the southeast corner last fall will be trolling around for meat this weekend. You could have used one of those last Friday, Hoopie. heh-heh.

Good luck out there, Rob, and all!

Don't need no stink'in early bird pram. Did just fine today, left with a cooler of brookies. Velveeta cheese with a little garlic powder sprinkled on top did the trick. Takes real talent to cast that stuff with a fly rod.
