I also unhooked the damn thing for ya which actually means something with those teeth. 12 inch needle nose disappearing down to my hand in that mouth. Crazy. Stop using tuna scented flies and they won't swallow. Hah! It was a good Tiger season my friend but time for steel...

      true that!

I've got a few more musky trips in me....I have scores (yes plural) to settle.

30-inch hatchery female from a coastal river yesterday. Caught another small one and a bunch of nice sea runs. This one was sitting in the skinniest little seam at the base of a shallow riffle. You gotta love Sept-ober.

probably not what the OP had in mind, but I was photographing waves along the Oregon coast last week (see post on Sept Arts and Crafts) and when I took them home to edit, I noticed that in one of the swells, there were quite a few little fishies swimming about. No, I did not run back to the car to retrieve my fly rod.....

No wonder you see seals, closer than you would expect, in the waves . Very cool picture.

right? I last saw a group of seals "surfing" in waves along the beach when I took my kids to the Washington coast more than 20 years ago. The experience is still pretty clear in my memory. I don't go very often, but hopefully one day I'll get to see them again.

Pat. I got the house finaled. A little pick up work then I’m done
Retired? Maybe from contracting but I have a ton of stuff to keep me busy. Like tying and cleaning up the boat

Got out this weekend and managed to hook three steelhead, landing two. The third fish absolutely ate my lunch. Took the fly lightly, set up, went airborne three or four times, swam right at me and did circles at my feet. My fly line wrapped all around my rod and when the fish finally shot downstream, it broke off immediately. Luckily it didn't break my rod, but it was a exhilarating encounter nonetheless. Kept the fish pictured, a 29" buck, and it went straight to the barbecue.
